SUMMARY:Soft Robotics Symposium
DESCRIPTION:What do elephants have to do with healthcare? Well\, as it turns out\, quite a lot. An example of an innovation inspired by nature is a soft fabric gripper\, modeled after an elephant’s trunk. It can wrap around an item and pick it up without damaging it. The field of Soft Robotics integrates knowledge from many different disciplines\, including material science\, engineering science\, computer science\, biology\, zoology\, health science\, and business innovation.\n  \n \n  \nSoft robots like the elephant trunk gripper can also be useful in many different sectors where fragile objects are handled. One of the sectors where Soft Robotics can be of particular value\, is in healthcare. On 10 and 11 February\, a Symposium about Soft Robotics in Healthcare featuring leading experts in the field takes place on the campus of Delft University of Technology\, hosted by Aimée Sakes (Technische Universiteit Delft) and Rob Scharff (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia). All the different disciplines linked to Soft Robotics will be discussed\, and how to apply them in the design of soft robots. Some keynote speakers have already been announced\, Barbara Mazzolai (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia) and Dr. Adam Stokes (University of Edinburgh) will both give an inspirational lecture. \nMore information on the Symposium can be found on the website of Robohouse: https://robohouse.nl/activities/events/soft-robotics-winterschool/

SUMMARY:TU Delft Space Institute - SRON -TNO Symposium 2021
DESCRIPTION:SAVE THE DATE!\nOn November 16\, 2021 the TU Delft Space Institute – SRON -TNO Symposium 2021 titled “Towards a Dutch Clear Air Consortium: Atmospheric Monitoring – From Technology to Applications” will take place at the Art Centre Delft and via video.\n\nThe Symposium will focus on the following topics: \n•            Advances in in science and instrument technology for atmospheric monitoring \n•            A perspective on the development of the commercial market for emission monitoring \n•            Round table discussions with key stakeholders from the Dutch Space ecosystem \n•            Break-out sessions to enter in discussion with the audience \nContext: The Dutch Clear Air Consortium is an initiative of KNMI\, TNO\, SRON and TU Delft. It aims to sustain and expand the Dutch knowledge position for using earth observation to help preventing climate change  and air pollution. The symposium shall help to inform attendees on this consortium\, gather inspiring ideas for research\, and connect to industry and  government stakeholders. \n\nParticipation\nThe Symposium will see the participation of major experts from academia\, national research institutes\, industry and government. More information will be made available soon. \n\nDate and time\nThe timeframe of the symposium is indicatively from 9:00 to 17:30. The Symposium will have a hybrid setting: the participation will be possible both in-person and online.
