15 mei 2025 – 09:00 | 17:00
After a successful first edition on March at SBIC Noordwijk, Tech Needs Discovery returns on 15 May 2025 with fresh momentum. Organised by the ESA Technology Broker (powered by NL Space Campus and SBIC Noordwijk) and in collaboration with Holland High Tech and Hi Delta, the event continues to create a meeting point for space technologies and real-world industry challenges.
The March edition sparked conversations that are still unfolding—some around challenges as specific as fibre alignment, others around broader opportunities. While many outcomes are still taking shape, the energy in the room made it clear: this format has the potential to shift perspectives and open unexpected doors.

A GATEWAY FOR NON-SPACE INDUSTRIES TO TAP INTO SPACE-GRADE SOLUTIONS
At the first edition in March, non-space companies from sectors such as agri-food, logistics, and photonics had the valuable opportunity to dive into new, space-grade solutions. They presented concrete technical challenges—from emission monitoring to fibre alignment and greenhouse automation—that allowed space experts to offer fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. The event highlighted how space technologies, known for their performance in extreme conditions, can bring higher reliability, smarter design, and greater efficiency to non-space industries.
For the upcoming edition on 15 May, the focus will shift. This time, space companies will present their own challenges, seeking potential solutions from non-space sectors. This new direction opens up exciting possibilities for cross-sector collaboration, further exploring the potential of space technologies in solving challenges beyond the space industry.
A CHANCE FOR SPACE COMPANIES TO UNLOCK NEW MARKETS
For space companies, Tech Needs Discovery offers more than visibility. It is a chance to meet potential partners with clear needs and real-world applications, fostering valuable cross-sector collaborations.
One example from the first edition was a meeting between a space company and a start-up working on fibre array alignment for photonics. What started as an unlikely connection turned into a promising idea for cross-sector innovation. It is exactly these types of unexpected wins that the event is designed to spark, offering space companies a unique opportunity to explore solutions outside their own industry and generate fresh ideas.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT THE 15TH MAY 2025 EVENT?
The second edition on 15 May will bring new challenges, this time presented by Space Companies looking for a non-space solution. Again guided matchmaking and relaxed networking moments will be part of the programme. It is ideal for space companies curious about new markets and for non-space industries eager to explore what they can offer.
More information about the companies presenting, registration and how to take part will be shared soon through NL Space Campus and SBIC Noordwijk channels.
